This year has already been a year of new developments - and it's only January! I am happy to announce that Breedlove guitars have decided to endorse me as one of their artists! This is such wonderful news and if you follow me on social media and Patreon you will be able to follow my journey of buying a new guitar as I upgrade to this wonderful piece of both equipment and art!
I started things with a bang this year. Not only did I turn 40 on January 5th, but we also had a health crisis in the family I've been dealing with. I explain more about this on my Patreon, so please go there if you want to know more. Rest assured everyone is alive and well, but it did put a strain on my time and energy in the beginning of the year.
It didn't put a stopper in anything though, the wheels are already turning and y'all know, what's in motion stays in motion so here we go...
Showcasing at the Montana MPAC
At the end of this month, the lovely Kat Bula and I are headed to Montana. (I know, Montana in January, sounds cold, right?) The amazing MPAC (Montana Performance Arts Consortium) is happening in Great Falls, MT and we have been chosen to showcase! We are very excited and I'm sure there will be lots of insights to share on this trip. Keep following us on social media to see how it unfolds.
Recording in Nashville
I'm headed to Nashville again in February to record at my favorite studio Beaird Music Group. I recorded Catch Me If You Can there in 2016 and I am looking forward to laying down these new songs. I have many other plans while in Nashville including...
Opening for my hero
A few years ago I was lucky enough to meet with my songwriting hero, Gary Burr and he gave me feedback on my songs. This time, I'm lucky enough to get to open for him and his amazing wife Georgia Middleman at a house concert in Franklin, TN. Check my tour schedule for more info. If you want to know why he's my hero, again, go to Patreon. I will be telling my story of how he inspired me to become a songwriter.
I'm excited to share this journey with you and I can't wait to bring more music into the world! 2019 here I come!
Lately I've been really grossed out by some of the trends in Country Music. It seems to me that the effort of bringing more equality into country music has been skewed. In stead of focusing on the best female artists out there, it seems more focus is being put on the best looking female artists out there.
Don't get me wrong, I think it's great when an amazing female artists gets to rise to her potential. If she happens to also look nice, more power to her! I especially like hearing when these awesome ladies are genuinely good people.
What bothers me is when I see someone with mediocre (or sometimes downright awful) so-called talent get put ahead of the actually wonderfully talented ones, because of skinny tummies and pretty faces. When the way you look overshadows the art you make, we are on the wrong track.
I long for more female artists, especially in country music, since this is where my heart lies. When I see a talented lady out there rocking it, I jump for joy! But I'm not interested in the quest for adding more girls if it's going to be another objectifying fest. Then we might as well listen to more bro-country and snap open another beer.
Feeling through all of this I remembered a song by Trisha Yearwood "Real Live Woman". This song totally encompasses how I feel we should listen to music. Forget the hype, don't believe the billboards - listen with your heart.
The full episode of Band In Seattle is now on Youtube! Check it out!
It's been a while since I've shared any news with you. Not that there hasn't been any, on the contrary, I've been very busy revamping my sound, writing new songs and hiring new band members. Everything seems to be coming together really nicely and I thought I'd share with you some of the developments so far.
Band In Seattle
Earlier this year we performed another set and did interviews for the Band In Seattle TV show. I've just heard we will be airing sometime in October or November and I'll keep y'all posted on the actual air date.
I put together a new band for my new songs and my new sound. My new sound is more vocally driven and more in the country-rock genre than traditional country.
Introducing new band:

Keys Raymond Hayden
Guitar Taylor Enloe
Fiddle and Vocals Kat Bula
